When it comes to teething signs and your baby, it’s important to remember that each child’s teething journey is different. Some will breeze through this milestone, while for others, it can be a very painful time.
The average age for teething is 6 months, however teeth can start coming through as early as 3 months (or in rare cases are born with teeth) and as late as 12 months.
So there is no need for alarm if teething starts early or a little late.

Natural teething remedies
If you’re wanting to stick with natural teething remedies, it can become a confusing time.
Below is a list of natural teething tricks we found work. And be sure to follow us on social media and join in on the discussions and let us know what works for you.
Refrigerate a Dampened Washcloth
Soak a small, clean washcloth in water, wring out, then pop into the fridge or freezer to chill. If your baby’s gums aren’t to sensitive to let them chew on it, the cold washcloth can relieve some of the pressure and swelling.
Gently massage the gum with clean fingers or a soft, wet cloth. This counter-pressure can give them some temporary relief. Bubbagum™ Teething Gel works great with gum massages.
Chilled or Soft Foods
If your baby is of age, they may get some relief from eating soft foods, such as yoghurt or fruit purees. Serve straight from the fridge for a soothing, cooling effect. Same goes for Chewy foods, particularly fresh fruit and vegetables encourage the development of strong jaw muscles.
Bubbagum™ natural teething gel contains organic ingredients, no medications, no nasty additives and most importantly, RELIEVES TEETHING PAIN FAST! Gently apply a small amount of gel on your finger or applicator (dummy, teething toy) and gently apply to inflamed gums. Use as needed. Shop Bubbagum™ natural teething gel.
If your child is wanting to bite and gnaw, an age-appropriate teething toy can help. It’s best to choose non-toxic and BPA free when selecting teething toys, and be sure to watch bub at all times to prevent choking.
Sometimes nothing feels better than being cuddled and kissed when in pain. Also, if you are breastfeeding, some babies prefer to nurse more often during teething for the comfort it provides (for others, the sucking action can however make teething pain worse).
Why is teething pain worse at night?
Your baby may seem more bothered by teething pain at night when there are fewer distractions around for them. It’s the same reason adults can feel more chronic pain at night. Sometimes it can be difficult to tell whether your baby’s unsettled behaviour during the night is actually due to teething, so be sure to talk with your health care professional if you have any concerns.
