Teething isn’t always a smooth ride for all babies.

But the more you know about teething, the more you can help your little one through this milestone.

WHEN DO BABIES START TEETHING?

DID YOU KNOW:
The development of baby teeth begins while the baby is in the womb, at about five weeks gestation.
At birth, your baby already has a full set of 20 teeth hiding in their gums.
Also, a very small number of babies are actually born with one or two teeth.

Teething, or ’Eruption' refers to the tooth breaking through the gum line.
The average age for teething is 6 months, however teeth can start coming through as early as 3 months and as late as 12 months.
So there is no need for alarm if teething starts early or a little late.

IS MY BABY TEETHING?

Here are common teething signs and symptoms to keep an eye out for:

  • Red swollen gums
  • Drooling
  • Biting
  • Rosy cheeks
  • Ear pulling
  • Cranky and irritability
  • Fussy feeding
  • Mouth and chin rash
  • Refusing solids
  • Disrupted sleep
  • Crying more than usual

IMPORTANT NOTE:
Not all symptoms may necessarily be linked to teething;
Teething can be painful, but it doesn’t usually make babies sick.

If your baby has diarrhoea, vomiting, rashes on the body, a high fever, or cough and congestion, it’s always best to see your health care professional.

WHAT DOES TEETHING LOOK LIKE?

The stages of teething can be different for many babies, however baby teeth usually erupt in pairs from the front of the mouth to the back.
  • By age 3 they should have all of their baby (primary) teeth
  • By around age 6 your child will likely start losing them and begin to get their adult teeth.

Your baby may be cranky for a few days before a tooth emerges,
We call this phase the “teething monster” phase.

You may not be able to predict when the teething monster will arrive at your place, But be prepared with Bubbagum Natural Teething Gel.

BABY TEETH ARE IMPORTANT.

Baby teeth help your child to chew food easily and to pronounce words properly. They are also needed to hold a place in the jaw for the permanent teeth to come through later. It is important to keep baby teeth clean, decayed baby teeth can damage the permanent teeth underneath.

NATURAL TEETHING REMEDIES

If you're wanting to stick with natural teething remedies, it can become a confusing time.

Below is a list of remedies we found work.

Soak a small, clean washcloth in water, wring out, then pop into the fridge or freezer to chill. If your baby’s gums aren’t to sensitive to let them chew on it, the cold washcloth can relieve some of the pressure and swelling.

"In less then 5 seconds she had stopped crying and was just lying there on the bed. That night she slept for 11 hours, only waking once for a feed.

I’ve been using this product since she was 11 weeks old
(she started teething at 8 weeks) and it’s exceptional!"

These are typically the first teeth your baby will get and commonly in pairs, with the lower central incisors cutting first and the upper central incisors second, however it is normal for them to come in at the same time.
These first teeth are meant to help bub bite into or shear soft food into small pieces.

NATURAL TEETHING REMEDIES

If you're wanting to stick with natural teething remedies, it can become a confusing time.

Below is a list of remedies we found work.

REFRIGERATE A DAMPENED WASHCLOTH
Soak a small, clean washcloth in water, wring out, then pop into the fridge or freezer to chill. If your baby’s gums aren’t to sensitive to let them chew on it, the cold washcloth can relieve some of the pressure and swelling.

CHILLED OR SOFT FOODS
If your baby is of age, they may get some relief from eating soft foods, such as yoghurt or fruit purees. Serve straight from the fridge for a soothing, cooling effect.
Same goes for Chewy foods - particularly fresh fruit and vegetables encourage the development of strong jaw muscles.

TEETHING GEL
Bubbagum™ natural teething gel contains organic ingredients, no medications, no nasty additives and most importantly, RELIEVES TEETHING PAIN FAST! Gently apply a small amount of gel on your finger or applicator (dummy, teething toy) and gently apply to inflamed gums. Use as needed.

GUM MASSAGE
Gently massage the gum with clean fingers or a soft, wet cloth. This counter-pressure can give them some temporary relief. Bubbagum™ Teething Gel works great with gum massages.

TEETHING TOYS
Gently massage the gum with clean fingers or a soft, wet cloth. This counter-pressure can give them some temporary relief. Bubbagum™ Teething Gel works great with gum massages.

TLC
sometimes nothing feels better than being cuddled and kissed when in pain. Also, if you are breastfeeding, some babies prefer to nurse more often during teething for the comfort it provides (for others, the sucking action can however make teething pain worse).
